Dark Green

Rich, appetizing

Flavor:

Basil-like, nutty, umami-deep

Recommendation:

Drink it hot with your Italian food

Brew at 170-185 F for 2 minutes.

Reason:

To pair with Italian dishes, we used cultivars called Asatsuyu, Saemidori, and Tsuyuhikari. All of these are known for their vibrant green color, just like basil. Asatsuyu has natural bean-like flavor, making it vibe well with "soupy" meals.

  • Can you imagine what “Sencha + Basil” tastes like?

The scent is reminiscent of Italy, making you feel like you’re enjoying a delicately balanced combination of tea and soup.

The green tea varieties used in this tea combination are Asatsuyu, Saemidori, and Tsuyuhikari.  All of these varieties have a bright green color and go perfectly with the lush image of basil.  In particular, the combination of Asatsuyu with basil amplifies the feeling that you’re enjoying an Italian soup.  This tea is perfect for stimulating your appetite before indulging in a decadent Italian meal!

Basil itself has been revered as a plant with sacred powers.

Not only is it know to give you a sense of vigor, but it also has antibacterial and antioxidant effects.  It is rich in phytonutrients (plant derived nutrients), including polyphenols, which help the body combat pathogens.

You get even more polyphenol diversity when you mix basil with green tea, because green tea contains a large amount of another important polyphenol, catechin.
