Why should I use Chasen?

It's easier to enhance matcha's flavor and texture! Traditional chasen is made out of bamboo with 80-120 prongs, making it easy for matcha to integrate into water with delicacy, creating a velvety foam. It also aerates the tea effectively, balancing matcha's umami.

We recommend using a chasen. But if you don't have a whisk, a frother or a metal works just fine.

What is a 茶筅 (chasen)?

Chasen means “tea whisk.”

  •  (cha) means “tea”

  •  (sen) means “bamboo whisk” or “brush”
